June 2009

I have tons of pics to upload to the recent work gallery and by next week will post pictures of the Tuscany Studio NAN winners. Thanks so much for sending me pictures from the show - I would love to hear from you if your horses did well at the championships!
I have a few upcoming sales in the next few weeks...one will be a mini Optime in flea bit grey. I also have a simple repaint Huck Bey (this guy will probably go to eBay) in a dapple Grey.
Stay tuned for details :-)
Hope everyone in the US has a wonderful 4th July weekend....stay cool!

PS. You can start sending bids in for the August Custom Order on July 1st :-)

Wow...it's ^%%##@!!! hot. It's only June but 100 degrees already???? We have officially been in Texas now for a year. Hard to believe where the time has gone. Which brings me to the section, "what I like/dislike about Texas".....

What I dislike about Texas :
- it's WAY too hot.
- the mud - I mean....come on!!!!!! This is not your regular dirt here....when it rains, the mud takes over every inch of our 5 acres, and the stuff can suck your shoes off if you're not careful.
- the frogs - kinda cute at the beginning but now its just ridiculous. They are *everywhere*. At night, the noise is deafening - they use our pool for pool parties - usually starting about 10pm and going on into the wee hours of the morning. Most of them seem to be making out on the pool slide or the ladder - ick.
- the bugs. 'nuff said.
- the crawfish in the pool
- the amount of crawfish/gumbo/jambalaya that is consumed on a daily basis (we are right on the TX/LA border)

What I like about Texas :
- our little 5 acre patch is home to approx 1 million squirrels, 3 million rabbits, a bunch of hawks, a heron, a bunch of egrets, gecko's galore and heaps of little songbirds.
- the people
- everything's bigger in Texas :-)
- it feels like home (for now!!)

A quick note about custom orders - please understand that it has alot more to do with the choice of resin rather than the price bid!!! As much as I love Sarah Rose's resins...I have painted multiples of all of her resins over the years - at this point I can pretty much guarantee that if you put in a bid for a paintjob on a Rose resin, it won't get picked :-( Sorry about that! There are tons of resins out there that I haven't had the chance to paint (or I've only painted one), and I'm hoping that these will be the ones that come in for custom orders. Last day to submit your bid for a July 2009 slot is June 23rd.

One of my favorite photographers right now is Sharon Montrose from LA....I just purchased the Lemurs...

"Recent Gallery" updated.

After almost 2 years....my custom order books will be re-opening in July 2009.
I have drastically changed the way I will accept new orders to guard against getting too swamped too soon (I don't want to close them again for another 2 years!!) All custom order information is now available here
Only one order will be accepted each month. It is *not* necessarily based on bid amount, but also on which resin you would like painted and colors selected.....I seem to have painted multiples of many resins and I would much rather accept orders based on something I really would like to paint.
This method also gives you the opportunity to chose your price, your timeframe and your own payment schedule.
I am currently accepting bids for July. Bids will be closed and one will be chosen on June 23rd. If your resin is not chosen for July, please feel free to send the same bid in the following month for another shot!
